Dr Marta Bolognani


Dr Marta Bolognani trained as an Anthropologist in Siena, then did a PhD in Sociology at the University of Leeds and specialised in cultural shifts among British Pakistanis. She taught Sociology and Anthropology at the Lahore University of Management Sciences and has been coordinator of the Pakistan Studies Group and General Secretary of the Muslims in Britain Research Network.

Marta was at Bristol’s Centre for Ethnicity and Citizenship until 2017 and has published academic articles and two books on the British Pakistani Diaspora. She is a psychoanalytic psychotherapist and member of the British Psychoanalytic Council.

Marta works at The Harbour, a charity providing free counselling for people with life-threatening illnesses and their families, and in private practice in Bristol.
